Buried in Sawdust for 50 years: Restoration of Salmon Creek Estuary

An interesting project by the North Olympic Salmon Coalition. Restoration of Salmon Creek estuary on Discovery Bay. Salmon Creek enters Discovery Bay immediately adjacent to Snow Creek (WDFW Research Station) and in many years is a tributary to Snow Creek at low tide - they often merge while crossing the lower portion of the beach.

Clean waste from saw mill operations in the 60's was producing leachates that were highly toxic to fish simply by rotting - (actually anaerobic digestion). If the video is not your thing, there are some links on the Resources/Habitat page.
